Just a quick post as I woke up late and I'm just leaving for work.
Courtesy of Mick in the UK we have for your enjoyment today a Volkswagen advert. Apparently it was both banned, and the maker had to apologise for fear of an Islamic backlash. Can't see why.

Exactly that ad was on Ch4 news last night. Apparently it was not made by VW, or authorised. Its a "viral ad" designed to be spread online.
VW don't like the fact it shows an islamic suicide bomber. Despite the fact it shows the Polo as tough, VW are apparently going to sue the maker.
Shame though, its a great ad :)

They didn't show the end of the advert on the report I showed, which defeated the point of the whole story.
Its now a story on the Guardian website!!!

Having looked into it a bit more, it seems to me that the ad was made professionally (35mm film etc), so reckon that it was made for and then rejected by VW then leaked by the makers.
Harks back to a previous point of mine though - I stole this from another blog, and that one beat Channel 4 by pretty much a week. Cutting edge indeed.
